Real Questions You May Be Hesitant to Ask · Straight answer from Kathleen
My house is a mess. Can I still call a real estate agent?
Yes, and please do. I have walked into every kind of home, and the ones that are lived-in, cluttered, or tired are not judgment calls, they are jobs. My first visit is about understanding your home and your options, not auditing your housekeeping.

- I'm embarrassed by the condition of my house. What should I do?
- I have too much stuff. Do I have to clean it all out before calling you?
You would be surprised how many sellers apologize for exactly the things that are most normal: decades of belongings, projects half finished, rooms that have become storage. None of it embarrasses me, and none of it makes you a bad seller.
The stuff is manageable, one area at a time, with a plan. We will decide together what needs to move, what can stay for staging, and what a professional can handle for you. You do not have to empty the house before you make the call.
Calling early is the smartest move you can make, because the longer we have, the more of the work we can spread out. There is no minimum standard for picking up the phone.
