What's it like living in Rockport?
Rockport started as a granite town and remade itself as an art colony: Bearskin Neck is lined with artists' studios in former fishermen's shacks, and the little red shack on the wharf may be the most painted building in America.

- Is Rockport a good town to buy in year-round?
Life here runs at a slower pace: Front Beach and Long Beach in summer, and a year-round village that stays real when the crowds leave. It is a small town, and it knows it.
The housing stock tilts toward the charming and the water-close, with granite, shingles, and harbor light everywhere, and prices follow the setting. Winter is quiet and communal; summer is the town's season.
The Rockport station ends the rail line here, so the commute is long but possible, and most who buy Rockport are buying the life, not the commute. If that life fits you, few towns are more itself.

Rockport is where my clients come for the studio-in-a-fishing-shack fantasy that turns out to be real. My Cape Ann town note covers Bearskin Neck, the beaches, and what the year-round rhythm is actually like.
